Children's University Graduation and Lectures - Details and Booking 

Our Children's University Graduation, at the University of Essex, will be on Saturday 14th March 2020.  You will be able to book your child onto the Graduation and Children's University Lectures from this page. 

You will also see we are holding our Annual General Meeting and attendance is open to all involved with the Children's University. This will be a formal meeting supported by the Chair of Trustees.

Before you do this, here are the details of the day.

There is plenty of parking at the University of Essex and there are no car parking charges at the weekend.

Notice of Annual General Meeting (this meeting is optional)

As a Charity we are required to hold an Annual General Meeting.  Our Annual General meeting will be held from 10am to 10.30am on Saturday 14th March 2020 at the University of Essex, Ivor Crewe Lecture Theatre.  This meeting will present:

  • Annual Report of the Trustees
  • Annual Accounts 
  • Independent Examiner's Report

An agenda will be sent to those attending in advance of the meeting.

11.15am to 12.45pm Children's University Lectures - Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall, University of Essex (these lectures are optional)

Children and families will have the opportunity to attend our Children's University Lectures, fun, practical and interactive learning experiences.  Our Lecture topic will be Climate Change: A Manifesto for Essex and all the details are below.

Lectures start at 11.15am with registration from 11.00am.

For our CU Lectures we ask that no more than 2 adults attend with each child.

2.30pm to 3.30pm Children's University Graduation - Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall, University of Essex

The Ceremony will start at 2.30pm and be finished by 3.30pm latest. Children's University Learners and their guests arrive at the University of Essex between 1.45pm and 2.15pm for gowning. 

Each Children's University Learner is able to bring up to 4 guests.

 

  This event is free of charge. 

You will be prompted to place an order for the number of tickets you need for each activity you wish to attend.

We will ask you to let us know:

  1. name of your child
  2. school they attend
  3. date of birth
  4. number of hours they have achieved (up to and including Friday 7th February 2020) 
  5. last Children's University Award they received
  6. any access requirements
  7. total number of guest

The information you provide will be used to produce certificates, Graduation programme and, new to the Children's University experience, a unique log-in for your child to the Children's University Dashboard You will be asked to give your permission for this.

If you are not able to attend we still require you to register your details with us so that Certificates can be printed and shared with schools and CU Learners afer the Children's University Graduation event.

Please let us know:

  1. name of your child
  2. school they attend
  3. date of birth
  4. number of hours they have achieved (up to and including Friday 7th February 2020)  
  5. last Children's University Award they received

Our Children's University Lecture 

Be a part of Essex Book Festival's special Climate for Change project Manifesto for Essex.

Over the next few months Essex Book Festival and friends will be hosting a series of workshops and activities (from print making to tree bark rubbing, eco-storytelling to paper-making and turning old clothes into new clothes) inviting children and their families t have their own say about making a difference to climate change.

Our Lecture

Join our friends from Essex Book Festival and take part in our special What are YOU going to do for climate change? Bunting project.

We will provide the bunting and the pens, you provide the ideas, the drawings and the words.  

Award-winning children's author Wendy Constance will be on hand to help you add to what we hope will be a bunting project which grows and grows throughout 2020.
